Lack of Snow - 2/24/07

I am somewhere between 50 and 200 years old now and was born, raised and have always lived in the wonderful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I have never seen a winter like the one we are having now. I have talked to many people even older than me (believe it or not) and they have all said the same thing. I have heard from many out of area snowmobilers that they thought the trail conditions have been bad and most of them are blaming the poor trail conditions on the people who do the grooming. In order to keep trails in good condition, there needs to be fresh snow added to the ground on a regular basis and this season that has not been happening. When you keep regrooming the same snow over and over, it gets to the point of essentially being small marbles which do not compact or bind together, kind of like sugar. If people want to blame someone, I suggest they call telephone directory assistance and ask for the phone number for Mother Nature. When you call her, if she answers, then voice your complaints about poor snow conditions to her.
